Huge Antique Twin Handled Vase With Birds & Gilded Decoration Vgc 24 Tall
This large ceramic twin handled vase comes in excellent antique condition. There are no chips cracks or repairs evident apart from a small shallow chip to the underside of the base rim (see photo). It is constructed in two pieces with the bottom piece being bolted to the main body. The decoration is hand applied gilt on a cream glazed background with a light blue background area to the front. There is some light age related wear to the gilding on the handles and top and bottom rims but this is relatively light and less that you would expect on an item of this age. The cream glaze shows some feint age related crazing but you have to look closely to see it. The hand painted gilded birds and fauna to the front stand proud of the surface. I know little of the history of this vase except that it does have genuine age and I would estimate it be at least 100 years old if not older.
I can find no makers mark or country of origin but t. It stands just under 24" tall and measures around 9" at the widest point across the middle.
